Mike Pungercar

was born and raised in Wisconsin, and has been a resident of Springfield, Oregon  for the past 35 years. 

Mike is a WWII historian with his focus on the history of the Eighth Air Force and its role in the Air War over Europe in World War II.  He is the author of two books - The Promise Kept, a book about the Eighth Air Force, his father who was a radio operator on a B-17, and seven other veterans who served on B-17 Flying Fortresses and - It Has Been My Honor, about five World War II veterans who experienced Pearl Harbor, the air war over France and Germany, Okinawa and Iwo Jima.

Mike is also the founder of South Willamette Valley Honor Flight, a nonprofit organization that takes WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans to Washington DC to experience their war memorials. 

Mike is a member of the 91st Bomb Group Memorial Association, and a Board Member of the Oregon Chapter - 8th Air Force Historical Society, and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.
